Three things to know

Geo Bucks, in three lines.

Your own store credit, in minutes.

Launch Bucks from the Swop app: 1 Buck = $1 of credit at your shop. They live on Base and Swop covers the gas.

Live in the Swop app

Burned when spent.

Bucks disappear at checkout, so they can't be spent twice. They're not cash, and only the shop that issued them honours them.

Drops bring people in the door.

Put rewards on the map. Nearby shoppers claim them by NFC tap, QR, GPS or beacon, then redeem in store.

Geo Bucks, explained simply.

Think of a coffee shop's gift card, except the shop creates it in a few taps, it lives in your phone's wallet, and it can't be spent twice.

What it is

Store credit a shop issues itself, plus rewards ("drops") the shop places on a map for people nearby to claim.

Who it's for

Local shops that want regulars to come back, and shoppers who like being rewarded for showing up.

What it costs

Swop covers the network fee on Base when you launch. Payments through Swop checkout carry the usual 0.5% fee.

What you need

The Swop app and a swop.id. Shops also need a store address so drops and credit point to the right place.

For shops

Your own credit, in three steps.

No loyalty software subscription and no plastic cards.

BaseThe public blockchain where Bucks live. It's fast and cheap, and Swop covers the network fee when you launch.
Token (ERC-20)The standard format for a digital currency on Base. Your Bucks are one, so any compatible wallet can see them.
BurnDestroying credit once it's spent, so the same Buck can never be used twice.
DropA reward tied to a place and a time, like "free pastry for the first 20 people today".
Voucher & receiptDigital proof you claimed a drop or redeemed credit. Shops can reward people who hold them.
How it moves

From launch to the counter.

Credit on the top line, drops on the bottom. Tap a step to follow it.

S.03 · How it works

From launch to latte.

One shop, one customer, start to finish. Screens marked Real screen are the Swop app today; the others illustrate the step.

01 · Launch

Your own currency, in minutes.

In the app, choose Geo Bucks (not a community token), give it a name and symbol, and set the lifetime ceiling: the most that can ever exist. One Buck is worth one dollar of credit at your stores, only you can issue more, and Swop covers the network fee.

02 · Issue

Reward people by name.

You sign a claim, the customer collects it into their Swop wallet. No plastic cards, no points app, no spreadsheet.

03 · Drop

Put rewards on the map.

Drops are rewards tied to a place. They appear on the map for people nearby, who claim them with an NFC tap, a rotating QR code, GPS or a beacon, and get a digital voucher. This is the real map: when nothing's nearby, it tells you.

04 · Spend

Spent once. Gone for good.

Bucks are burned at checkout, so they can't be spent twice. The customer keeps a digital receipt that also works as proof of loyalty.

S.04 · Why it works

Loyalty, without the software bill.

Store credit, rewards and receipts in one place, owned by the shop that issues them.

One Buck, one dollar

Each shop's Bucks are worth $1 of credit at that shop's registered stores. Simple enough to explain at the till.

1 = $1

Burned when spent

No double spending, no expired-points mess.

Issued→Held→Burned

Your money, your keys

Each shop launches its own Bucks on Base. Swop can't create more of them.

“Swop holds no key that can mint a merchant's money.”

Receipts that count

Every redemption leaves a digital receipt. Shops can reward the regulars who hold them.

For developers

Take payments on your own site with Swop checkout. Read-only access to locations and drops is available with a merchant key. Creating or issuing Geo Bucks through the API isn't available yet: that happens in the Swop app.

S.09 · Questions

Asked and answered.

What is a Geo Buck?

Store credit that a shop issues itself. Each Buck is worth $1 of credit at that shop's registered stores, and it sits in your Swop wallet next to your other money.

Can I cash Bucks out?

No. Bucks are not redeemable for cash and are not guaranteed by Swop. Only the shop that issued them honours them, at its own stores.

Who controls how many Bucks exist?

The shop. Each shop launches its own Bucks on Base and is the only one who can issue more. Swop holds no key that can mint a merchant's money.

What happens when I spend them?

They're burned at checkout, so they can't be used twice. You keep a digital receipt, which the shop can use to reward regulars.

How do I claim a drop?

Open the map in the Swop app, go to the drop, and claim it the way the shop chose: an NFC tap, a rotating QR code, being within range (GPS), or a beacon in the store. You get a digital voucher in your wallet.
